Job Summary
Group Lead is responsible and authorized to operate machinery and also assists in the process to produce quality finished product.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to teach about plastic properties and the effects of heat, shearing, pressure, and speed.
- Technical ability to train new and mid-level Operators.
- Effectively work in a dynamic team environment, ability to adapt to conditions as they evolve and change.
- Anticipate needs and challenges before they arise and to respond effectively when they occur.
- Flexibility to rotate responsibilities to uncover creative ideas, share different perspectives and experiences to enhance skills.
- Identify process challenges, ability to assist Operators and Engineers to determine what are the root causes of a problem and what are the possible adverse effects of the change.
- Knowledge and ability to set-up and successfully run new technology trials in collaboration with the Engineering team.
- Capable of operating autonomously under tight time schedules
- Identify and troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize down time and improve yields.
- Interfaces with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance personnel on both specific and broad production issues. Must effectively communicate with all of these persons, teams, or departments.
- Escalate issues/problems real-time to Engineering/Management if they cannot be resolved quickly.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities including 6S, kaizen and other lean events.
- Perform scheduled line inspections of product, to ensure quality levels are maintained by psychical inspection using measuring devices and visual, maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition.
- Perform scheduled Extruder and Downstream equipment inspections to ensure run parameters and product quality levels achieved are maintained.
- Resolve quality, machine, and personnel issues
Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma preferred.
Typically requires 5 years or more of related experience, or may need 3 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient with handheld measuring equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Vision needed to work with and test small parts.
- Attention to Detail
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. with or without assistance
